A Breath of Snow and Ashes

Well, after 6 weeks, I finally finished book 6 in Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series, "A Breath of Snow and Ashes." 980 pages in hardback!!! This book was a welcome respite after book 5, "A Fiery Cross" which I found quite boring. In the dreary winter, reading this book, made me feel like I was home with friends and family after a long absence. I was saddened to read that last page knowing I'd not read another for a few more years when Ms. Gabaldon publishes what she indicates is the series finale.

I won't go into details about the book, but it advances the story into the Revolutionary war and ties up a few loose ends in the story arc. It has a definite ending of sorts, but it leaves the reader wondering what will happen in the next chapter of the lives of Claire and Jamie, Brianna and Roger. Ok...if I say anymore, I'll end up giving the ending I'm stopping now. Suffice it to say, you won't be disappointed in this installment of the wildly successful and huge historical, time-travel series!

Onward I go back into some fantasy reading with debut author, Marie Brennan's "Doppelganger" witch series.

Hope the Groundhog didn't see his shadow and you get an early spring!!!
