Things are progressing in my world toward publication. I got the request from my editor to complete the cover art questionnaire for Chasing Shadows, and it's due in 2 weeks. I like the fact that Cerridwen will take the authors input into consideration in creating their cover art. Many publishers don't allow the author any input. Of course, I won't have creative control or anything like that, but at last I can give them my likes, dislikes and ideas. I've picked out a few existing book covers from Cerridwen as examples of the type of cover I like, and I've also picked out a couple to show the type of cover I'd prefer not to have. Now I'm going through the manuscript (refreshing my memory) to pick out some key scenes or key items/ideas that might help the art department. Can't wait to see what they do with the cover!
I got my preliminary editing schedule from my editor, so it looks like I'll be busy May thru mid July doing edits! Hopefully, I'll be done with edits right before my July vacation, but it's cutting it close and that's hoping that there aren't further edits needed!
For now, I'm still plugging away at Thirteen. But I may put that on hold for a bit to finish up the last couple chapters of a shorter novel I wrote during the November 2004 NaNoWriMo challenge. It's so close to completion and I don't think it'll take too many rounds of editing. It was supposed to be a novella prequel to a series of novels, however, it took on a life of it's own and should end up with about 60,000 words and I'm at 52,500 now. That's all I'm gonna say about it! Too many ideas...not enough time!
