I'm back to adding plants to my backyard in the new landscaping project I started last year. I still have a ways to go and I'm slowly adding plants. See what I've added in the last week or so, because, ya know, it's springtime in California! Gardening board on Pinterst!
Here's one of my favorite new evergreen plants (mine doesn't look like this yet, but it will! Mine's about the size of the one in the first photo). The Latin name is "Mahonia Japonica," and otherwise known as an Oregon Grape or Oregon Grape-Holly. I love the spiny holly-looking leaves, and the color it will turn in the fall. In the spring, it has yellow flowers followed by purple "grapes." I've already had a branch of yellow flowers! Last but not least, it's the state flower of Oregon!
